What are your fees?

We have no set fees. We do not charge for concert tickets, nor do we require a minimum amount from your church or organization for our services. Our CDs are available for a donation of any amount.
A love offering or an honorarium is helpful and is always appreciated but it is simply one of many ways that God provides for our needs. We recognize that we subsist solely by the hand of the Lord. In the words of a fellow Christian musician, "We will give our best effort and only ask that you give your best." We simply want to open ourselves up to whatever ministry opportunities the Lord may send us without regard to monetary concerns.

Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

Matthew 10:8 Freely you have received, freely give.

Matthew 6:31-33 "So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

What kind of music do you play?

Our normal repertoire includes original music with an eclectic folk-pop sound. You can hear some of our songs on this website by going to the
listen page.
Because we perform in a variety of venues, there are many other types of music we play whenever the occasion arises. These include: children's music, Renaissance music, old standards, Christmas music, praise songs and hymns. We also have a few Spanish songs.
We usually perform Christian music, although we do include secular music in our sets from time to time. Whatever we play, though, whether or not it is blatantly spiritual, we play to the glory of God.

What is your availability?

You can find out where we will be and when we will be there on our
calendar page. Most of our singing engagements are listed on the website. If you have a question about a specific date please call us at 832-493-5965 or e-mail us at canopy@jesusanswers.com.

What church are you from?

Canopy is a singing group that travels and sings at many churches of various denominations. We are not tied to any one congregation. However, when Canopy is not occupied elsewhere, Buddy & Alicia enjoy a fellowship located in Clear Lake, TX, and Kevin & Cynthia are blessed to lead worship at Texas Avenue Baptist Church in Webster, TX.

Who do you play for?

We play for people of all ages, denominations, and lifestyles. We play for our Christian brothers and sisters, as well as for those who may not expect the gospel. We play in churches, under overpasses, in parks, at renaissance faires, in coffee houses, and anywhere else we can bring our message of hope through our music.

Where does the name CANOPY come from?

The girls picked the name from a verse in Isaiah 40:22 they really liked, which reads "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in."
As an interesting (but totally unrelated) sidenote, recently we've learned there are some Creation Scientists who propose
The Canopy Theory, which concerns the possible existance of a pre-flood atmospheric layer which somehow affected and altered life on our planet. We aren't scientists or anything but it sure sounds pretty cool!

Why does your guitarist wear a skirt?

Buddy is a proponent of unbifurcated men's garments and unafraid to show a little leg.
