STRATEGIES & OBJECTIVES

Issue

After research, it was determined that over 75% of the residents are either unemployed or under-employed.

Tactic

A career counselling staff will telemarket daily, schedule appointments, and send unemployed residents out on coached interviews untill the resident is gainfully employed.

An on-site job and career counseller will be available on designated days per week for the express purpose of teaching residents how to effectivly market themselves.

Issue

Whether proerly or improperly managed, many single parents run out of food stamps way before the end of the month. As a result their children sometimes go days without sufficient nourishment.

Tactic

After immediate food needs are addressed, the applicant must attend a financial accountability class. If the applicant fails to attend, no food will be distributed on subsequent occurrences.

Issue

Most inner-city, low income citizens believe that their opinion is unimportant and irrelevant to society. Many are proven to have low self-esteem.

Tactic

COnduct weekly motivational sessions along with periodic "talk Shows" with the presence of vidoe cameras. Dramatic performances will also be exhibited.

Issue

Because many of our young mothers have not had positive role models for motherhood, many inflict a poor self image upon their children.

Tactic

Introduce an on-site parental training program that teaches a step-by-step, hands-on approach to parenting. The tactic for getting parent participation is for housing to make it mandatory or, at least, introduce some kind of incentive for a high response rate.
